SAMPLE COIL-TRAC SCREENS
user friendly touch screen for Coil-Trac
Coil-Trac utilizes a user-friendly touch screen interface for entering, viewing and modifying coil information. Pictured above is the operator screen that allows navigation to coil information for coils located at each conveyor position shown.

As shown in this operator screen, Coil-Trac provides a method for system recovery, realignment and modification. In complicated real world manufacturing processes, anomalies sometimes occur. In the event that data is accidentally deleted or incorrectly modified by the operator, a parallel data tracking file is maintained. This file allows the operator to re-insert data for any coil in the system and then proceed with automatic operation.

The Future of Slit Coil Packaging

Bushman Equipment, Inc. leads the way again--now offering Coil-Trac to help streamline your packaging process.

This unique system, which tracks coils through each station, is flexible and can be tailored to meet the specific needs of each customer and packaging line configuration.

Coil data and customer specifications are manually input as coils enter the packaging line. This data can contain pertinent information such as:

  • Lot or heat number
  • Weight
  • Required banding type
  • Required skid type
  • Required spacer pattern
  • Number of coils per stack
  • Customer identification number

This coil data can be used to fully automate the packaging line system or, more simply, to provide operators with information to complete semi-automatic or manual operations.

The operator enters the coil data via a user friendly touch screen which is used in conjunction with a hand held wireless bar code reader. Coil data can also be retrieved from Level 2 plant information systems, such as Oracle.

Automation

Coil-Trac uses coil data to make processing decisions in automating the coil packaging line system. Examples of these decisions include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Determining the number of bands to be used on the coil.
  • Determining the type of pallet best for each coil.
  • Determining the number of coils to place on a coil stack.
  • Determining the optimal pattern for the spacers which can be placed in position automatically by an optional Bushman Equipment, Inc. Spacer Placer.

Real Time Record Updates

Coil-Trac can update coil data and store it in real time as each coil is processed by the system. Examples of some of the uses of this feature are:

  • Calculating and storing of actual coil weight as processed by a weighing conveyor.
  • Storing processing dates, times, and time-stamps as they occur throughout the processing line.

Provision of Operator Information

With Coil-Trac the operator can view the data of any coil, at any time and at any location along the packaging line. This information assists in the performance of processing tasks requiring operator intervention such as manual banding operations and custom packaging processes performed at the skid banding station.

Bushman Equipment, Inc.’s Coil-Trac will streamline your packaging process--providing seamless transfer of both physical coils and their accompanying coil data.
